Dhaka: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Political Adviser to Prime Minister Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today announced that the party's high-level policymaking forum will decide the selection of the country's next President. He emphasized that the decision will be made at the party's highest level and communicated to the nation in due course.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi shared these insights during a press interaction after paying respects at the grave of the party's founder, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. He was accompanied by 12 officials who recently received contractual appointments in government institutions.
Addressing the resignation of former President Mohammad Shahabuddin due to health reasons, Rizvi noted that several political parties are calling for his trial. He assured that the BNP's policymaking forum will deliberate on the issue before making a final decision.
Rizvi highlighted the dedication of the 12 officials who were appointed to government roles, recognizing their longstanding involvement in BNP politics and their sacrifices during recent movements. He expressed confidence in their integrity and loyalty to party principles.
Lastly, Rizvi praised the leadership of Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, noting the government's commitment to social welfare and the implementation of numerous initiatives over the past four months.
