Dhaka: The Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board has instructed all madrasas across the nation to establish football teams and begin preparations for the 'Prime Minister's Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026,' set to commence on August 9.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inaugurate the tournament at Chattogram Stadium on the opening day. The tournament will simultaneously launch across the country on the same date. In preparation, educational institutions under the board have been instructed to organize inter-class football competitions to identify and select talented players.
The directive mandates madrasas to form separate football teams for boys and girls at the Dakhil (Class VI-X) and Alim (1st and 2nd year) levels. Additionally, regular practice sessions must be arranged under the guidance of an experienced teacher or trainer to ensure the teams are well-prepared.
All information regarding the football teams must be submitted to the board by July 30 via email at [email protected]. The notification emphasizes that this initiative will significantly contribute to fostering discipline, leadership, and team spirit among students through sports.
The Madrasa Education Board has also urged the heads of institutions to engage local public representatives, administration, sports enthusiasts, and education advocates to ensure the successful execution of the tournament.
