CCGP Approves Fertilizer Procurement for Agriculture Needs

Dhaka: The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved several procurement proposals, including the import of fertilizer. The approvals came at the 32nd meeting of the CCGP for 2026, held at the Cabinet Division in the capital with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair. A total of six proposals from different ministries and divisions were approved at the meeting.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the committee approved a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture to import 40,000 metric tonnes (10 percent) of Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer. This procurement will be conducted through the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) under the 12th lot (Optional-2nd) of an existing contract with the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC). The cost of this procurement is estimated at Taka 192.10 crore, with the price fixed at US$388.55 per metric ton.
