Dhaka: Two youths were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between a tractor and a motorbike in the Salamer More area of Goga Union in Sharsha upazila of Jashore district.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the deceased were identified as Nahid Islam, 35, son of Jahangir Bhandari from Sujalpur village in Jashore Sadar upazila, and Usha Rahman, 30, son of Jamat Ali from Daulatpur village under Benapole Port Police Station. The tragic incident occurred when the three youths were traveling towards the border on a motorcycle around 9:00 am. A brick-laden tractor coming from the opposite direction collided with their vehicle, resulting in the immediate deaths of Nahid and Usha.
Injured Rubel Hossain was rescued and transported to Jashore General Hospital for medical treatment. Police subsequently recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital morgue. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shaminul Haque of Sharsha Police Station reported that local residents seized the tractor and handed it over to the police while the driver and his assistant fled the scene. Legal action is being pursued, he added.
