Dhaka: The government has embarked on extensive initiatives to celebrate July Uprising Day nationally this year. The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has issued necessary directives to various ministries, divisions, departments, agencies, and field administrations for the observance of “July Uprising Day 2026” with due dignity and comprehensive programmes.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minutes of the inter-ministerial meeting held on this occasion have been distributed to all relevant institutions, urging them to take subsequent actions based on the decisions made. This information was conveyed in a recent letter signed by Shabnam Mustari Rikta, Deputy Secretary of the Administration-2 Branch of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. The letter further specified that the minutes from the meeting held on May 3 regarding the observance of the day have been sent to all concerned ministries, departments, and agencies.

The letter underscores the instructions for implementing the decisions taken at the meeting. Extensive preparations are underway from the top tier of government down to the field administration to observe the day nationally. Nearly all government institutions in the country have been mobilized, including the Cabinet Division, Prime Minister’s Office, Armed Forces Division, various ministries and divisions, law enforcement agencies, district administrations, city corporations, and upazila administrations.

Memorandums have been dispatched to the Cabinet Secretary, the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary, the chiefs of the three armed services, and senior secretaries and secretaries of various ministries for executing the minutes. Concurrently, instructions have been given to the Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, RAB, BGB, Ansar and VDP, Coast Guard, National Security Intelligence (NSI), Directorate General of Defence Intelligence (DGFI), and relevant security agencies including the Dhaka Metropolitan Police to make necessary preparations.

Additionally, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, Department of Information, and Department of Mass Communication have been tasked with conducting publicity campaigns to highlight the significance of the day. According to sources, the minutes also include directives for hosting various discussion meetings, reminiscence sessions, cultural programs, photography exhibitions, and special publications at the national level.

For the field administration, the minutes have been disseminated to all Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Upazila Executive Officers, Superintendents of Police, and Officer-in-Charges of police stations. Consequently, it is expected that, alongside the central programmes, comprehensive activities will be undertaken at the divisional, district, and upazila levels to observe the day.

The ministries and divisions associated with education, culture, youth and sports, local government, health, agriculture, transport, religion, social welfare, science and technology, women and children affairs, expatriate welfare, environment, commerce, and information technology have been actively involved in the preparations for the day. This involvement has created opportunities for special sector-based events to accompany national-level programmes.

Meanwhile, the National Muktijoddha Council, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Welfare Trust, Liberation War Museum, Bangladesh Scouts, BNCC, and Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad have also been informed to participate in the activities.
