Dhaka: Professor Dr Borhan Uddin of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) has been appointed as the Treasurer of Dhaka Central University (DCU).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ministry of Education issued a notification stating that the appointment received approval from President and Chancellor of the university Mohammed Shahabuddin. This decision aligns with Section 14(1) of the Dhaka Central University Act, 2026. Prof Borhan Uddin is set to serve a four-year term from the date of his joining or until his retirement, depending on which occurs first.
The notification outlines that during this tenure, Prof Borhan Uddin will receive a salary and allowances equivalent to those of his substantive post. He will also enjoy benefits as prescribed by relevant rules. Additionally, he is expected to reside on the university campus and fulfill duties and exercise powers as assigned under the university’s laws and statutes, as well as those delegated by the Vice-Chancellor.
The notification further mentions that the Chancellor holds the authority to revoke the appointment at any time if deemed necessary.
