Khulna: The 15th meeting of the Divisional Child Labour Welfare Council took place today at the office of the Khulna Divisional Commissioner, under the leadership of Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdullah Harun. The meeting focused on the significant challenge of eliminating child labour and emphasized the need for collective action from all involved parties.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Divisional Commissioner Harun highlighted the importance of finding long-term, sustainable solutions to prevent child labour rather than relying solely on immediate fixes. He noted that while the government has discouraged child labour, a multifaceted approach is required to address the issue effectively.
The meeting was attended by key figures including Divisional Director of the Labour Department Md. Hafez Ahmad Majumdar, Director of Secondary and Higher Education for the Khulna Region, Professor Dr. Md. Anis-Ar-Reza, and Assistant Inspector General of DIFE Md. Shahinur Rahman. Officials from various government departments, NGO representatives, and members of the Child Labour Welfare Council were also present.
The program was a collaborative effort organized by the Khulna Divisional Administration and the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments, aiming to strengthen the commitment towards eradicating child labour in the region.
