Dhaka: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has temporarily suspended its Executive Engineer Ghulam Kibria over allegations of irregularities, corruption, and abuse of power in shop allocations, management, and tender-related activities at various markets under the city corporation.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, an official order signed by DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md Shariful Islam stated that Ghulam Kibria had been serving as Executive Engineer (current charge) of Region-7 and Executive Engineer (additional charge) of the Market Construction Cell. The order noted that an investigation has been initiated following an official directive from the Local Government Division regarding allegations of irregularities, corruption, and misuse of authority in various activities of the city corporation, particularly those related to the allocation and management of market shops.

Considering the need to keep him away from all official responsibilities of the corporation until the completion of a full investigation and departmental proceedings, the authorities have placed him under temporary suspension. During the suspension period, Ghulam Kibria has been attached to the office of the DSCC Secretary.
