Dhaka: Dr Tasnim Jara, former senior joint member secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP) who contested the 13th parliamentary election as an independent candidate, on Monday dismissed claims that she held negotiations with BNP as false and imaginary. In a post on her verified Facebook page, Jara responded to what she said were rumours circulating about her political activities.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Jara addressed the rumours head-on, stating that a false claim is being propagated suggesting that she had negotiations with BNP. Some individuals are even alleging that she maintains a channel with BNP and that she received a green signal from them. Rejecting these claims, Jara emphasized that she has never engaged in any such discussion with BNP or any other political party.
Jara challenged those making the allegations to provide evidence. She urged people to ask those spreading these claims when, where, and with whom these negotiations took place, asserting they would not be able to provide any names, dates, or evidence to back their claims.
The former NCP leader firmly stated that no such incident had ever occurred and alleged that the rumours were being spread to serve a particular narrative. She suggested that the purpose of spreading this falsehood is to create a narrative that suits certain interests.
Dr Tasnim Jara contested the 13th parliamentary election from Dhaka-9 constituency as an independent candidate but was ultimately defeated.
