Dhaka: Three more children have died from measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh within a 24-hour period ending at 8:00am on Monday. This development increases the death toll to 588 since the outbreak began on March 15, 2026. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has categorized these recent fatalities as suspected measles cases, maintaining the total number of confirmed deaths at 90.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the number of suspected measles deaths has now reached 498. In the past 24 hours alone, 1,134 new suspected measles cases have been recorded, increasing the total suspected cases to 72,070. During the same timeframe, 45 new confirmed measles cases have been identified, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 9,094.
The health crisis has led to the hospitalization of 57,902 suspected measles patients since mid-March. Of these, 53,722 individuals have successfully recovered, as reported by the DGHS. The ongoing situation continues to be monitored closely by health authorities in an effort to contain the spread of the disease.
