Dhaka: State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury emphasized the crucial role of voluntary organizations in fostering moral values within society. Speaking as the chief guest during the 6th Annual District Convention of Lions Clubs International District 315A3, Yasser Khan highlighted the need for these organizations to work alongside the government to enhance social welfare and humanitarian efforts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Yasser Khan stressed that organizations committed to public welfare are pivotal in driving social development and establishing humanitarian values. He noted that while these organizations are making a positive impact, there is a need to broaden their scope of work. In particular, international service organizations like Lions Clubs are instrumental in initiating positive societal changes through their activities in education, health, environmental protection, and humanitarian assistance.
The State Minister called for a more robust collaboration between government and non-government voluntary organizations to further the country's development. He suggested that instilling moral values in school-going children could be a key initiative to ensure they grow up with integrity and principles.
The event, presided over by District Governor Mohammad Bellal Hossain, included a welcome speech by Convention Chairman Advocate Md. Riazul Haque Bashir. It commenced with recitations from the Holy Quran, the national anthem, and an oath-taking ceremony. Attendees also viewed a documentary showcasing the district's service activities and various clubs.
During the convention, the results of the district elections were announced, and the new District Governor-elect, First Vice District Governor-elect, and Second Vice District Governor-elect were formally introduced. The program saw participation from leaders, members, guests, and invitees of various levels of Lions Clubs.
