Chattogram: The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival for Muslims, is being observed in Chattogram with a festive atmosphere marked by religious solemnity throughout the city and district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 266 Eid congregations were organized in the city, facilitated by the Chattogram Central Eid Jamaat Committee (CCEJC) and the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).
Muslim devotees gathered to offer Eid prayers at various mosques across the city and district, praying for divine blessings, peace, prosperity, and stability for the country. Chattogram’s metropolitan and district police confirmed that the Eid-ul-Azha Jamaats were conducted peacefully, supported by stringent security measures, with law enforcement deployed at strategic points.
One of the largest Eid congregations took place at Andarkilla Shahi Jame Mosque at 7 am, organized by CCEJC. Two successive congregations were also held at Jamiatul Falah Mosque at 7 am and 8 am, under the CCC’s auspices. Other significant Eid celebrations occurred at Laldhighi Maidan, Chawkbazar Wali Khan Mosque, and several other key locations across the city.
Prominent figures, including BNP leader and former minister Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin, State Minister for Land and Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Sayeed Al Noman MP, and Solyman Alam Shet, joined the Eid prayers at Jamiatul Falah Mosque.
In addition, reports from fourteen upazilas in the district indicate that people in rural areas are celebrating Eid with enthusiasm. The main Eid Jamaat was conducted in each of the 41 wards of the city corporation, managed by the respective councillors.
