Jamalpur: An 11-year-old boy tragically drowned in a pond in the Madarganj Upazila of Jamalpur district on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Anas, son of Hafizur, a resident of Mirzapur village in Madarganj Upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police sources reported that Anas had gone to a nearby pond to practice swimming. During the session, he unexpectedly slipped and sank into deep water. Local residents managed to rescue him and rushed him to the Madarganj Upazila Health Complex. However, the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Snehashish Roy, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madarganj Police Station, confirmed the incident.
