Govt Implements 60 Key Decisions in First 100 Days: Mahadi

Dhaka: The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has successfully implemented around 60 significant decisions during its initial 100 days in office, as stated by Mahdi Amin, Spokesperson from the Prime Minister’s Office, during a press conference held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha,



Mahdi Amin emphasized the government’s commitment to human rights, freedom of speech, and the rule of law, which has been evident in the administration’s liberal and tolerant policies. He highlighted the stark contrast between the government’s efforts and the misuse of freedom of speech by some, which he described as propaganda and slander.



The spokesperson revealed that the cabinet, elected by the people’s vote, convened ten times between February 17 and May 24, during which 60 important decisions were made. Of these, 37 percent have been implemented, while the remaining decisions are in progress. Mahdi Amin praised the government’s efficiency and dedication in executing these decisions promptly.



Highlighting the achievements within the first 100 days, Mahdi Amin remarked on the government’s success in empowering citizens and fostering hope and aspirations among the public. He noted the government’s multifaceted steps in restoring order and relief in public life, particularly through initiatives aimed at empowering youth and women, with the vision of transforming Bangladesh into a dignified and self-reliant nation.



A key focus of the administration, as outlined by Mahdi Amin, is to provide equal opportunities for citizens regardless of their background, thereby contributing to the nation’s development. He reiterated Prime Minister Rahman’s commitment to fulfilling the expectations of the people and highlighted the government’s efforts to address challenges swiftly.



In response to a query about the measles vaccination campaign, Mahdi Amin confirmed the successful vaccination of nearly 100 percent of children against measles over the past three months. He emphasized the government’s dedication to safeguarding children from such diseases through rapid vaccination efforts.



Addressing concerns about freedom of speech, Mahdi Amin acknowledged the challenges posed by misinformation and disinformation. He indicated that the government is considering legal reforms to curb the misuse of this freedom, with discussions involving various stakeholders.



On the topic of unresolved cases, such as the Sagar-Runi murder, Mahdi Amin underscored the government’s priority to ensure justice for victims and its commitment to protecting journalists’ freedom. He also detailed measures being taken to enhance safety and security during the Eid holiday travel, including increasing train and coach numbers.



Further, Mahdi Amin outlined several initiatives aimed at economic and infrastructural development, such as ensuring timely payment of wages and bonuses to workers, reducing airfares for Hajj pilgrims, and implementing the economic corridor from Teknaf to Tentulia. The government also plans to open the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by December 16 and introduce technological advancements like high-speed free Wi-Fi at airports and trains.



Lastly, Mahdi Amin expressed optimism for Bangladesh’s future, encouraging collective efforts to build a prosperous and self-reliant nation under Prime Minister Rahman’s leadership. The press conference was moderated by Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Roni and attended by several other officials.
