President Shahabuddin to Lead Eid-ul-Azha Prayers at National Eidgah

Dhaka: President Mohammed Shahabuddin will join hundreds of worshippers to offer Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the National Eidgah, situated near the High Court premises, on May 28. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is also expected to partake in the main congregation at 7:30 am.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the President’s Press Wing confirmed that the main Eid jamaat will be held at the National Eidgah ground at 7:30 am. The President will participate in the prayers and the subsequent munajat. Distinguished figures, including the Chief Justice of Bangladesh, cabinet members, Supreme Court judges, lawmakers, senior political leaders, diplomats, and high-ranking civil and military officials, are expected to attend.



An official from the Islamic Foundation announced that Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, is scheduled to lead the Eid prayers. A special munajat for peace, progress, and prosperity of Bangladesh, along with the welfare of its people and the Muslim Ummah, will be conducted after the prayers.



After the prayers, the President will exchange Eid greetings with the devotees at the Eidgah. The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is overseeing the Eid congregation, with particular arrangements made for women devotees. Security around the Eidgah premises has been enhanced to ensure a smooth event.



DSCC Administrator Valiant Freedom Fighter Md Abdus Salam mentioned that if adverse weather conditions arise, the main jamaat will be relocated to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 8:00 am. Upon his arrival at the National Eidgah, the President will be welcomed by the Chief Justice, cabinet members, DSCC administrator, DSCC chief executive officer, divisional commissioner, registrar general of the Supreme Court, and director general of the Islamic Foundation.
