Cox's bazar: At least five people were injured, including two with bullet wounds, in a clash following a gun attack on a local BNP leader at the Cox's Bazar District and Sessions Judge Court premises on Sunday morning.
According to United News of Bangladesh, among the injured were Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal leaders Mahmud Uddin and Roni, who suffered bullet injuries. The incident occurred around 11:00 am, as reported by witnesses and police officials.
Police stated that Liakat Ali Member, the general secretary of the BNP's Jhilongjha union unit in Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila, appeared before the court for a murder case alongside his followers. As Liakat was leaving the court premises, individuals believed to be followers of the case complainant reportedly opened fire targeting him. Fortunately, Liakat managed to evade the attack, but Mahmud and Roni were injured.
Subsequently, a clash erupted between the two groups, leading to a chase and counter-chase scenario that resulted in three additional people being injured. Ohidur Rahman, the Additional Superintendent of Police in Cox's Bazar, confirmed the arrest of three individuals related to the incident. The injured parties were transported to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for medical treatment.
