16 More Die with Measles Symptoms in 24 Hours Across the Country

Dhaka: Sixteen more children have succumbed to measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, with 1,434 patients admitted to hospitals for measles or measles-like symptoms during the same timeframe.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed this information through a press release issued from its control room. The report detailed that 1,306 suspected measles cases were recorded in the last day alone, contributing to a total of 63,813 suspected cases from March 15 to May 24.

In the recent 24-hour period, 128 confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 8,622 since mid-March. Hospital admissions for suspected measles have reached 50,558 over the same period, with 46,214 patients discharged.

The DGHS also reported that 16 children died with suspected measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, increasing the total number of deaths from suspected measles to 442 between March 15 and May 24. Of these, 86 deaths were confirmed to be due to measles.
