Dhaka: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will quiz former deputy minister Abdullah Al Islam Jakob at jail gate on a scheduled date in a case over alleged illegal wealth accumulation. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the ACC. Earlier in the day, the court showed Jakob arrested in the case.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the case was filed on April 24, 2025, with the ACC Integrated District Office-1 by the commission’s Deputy Director SM Rashedur Reza. The case involves allegations that Jakob acquired and possessed immovable and movable assets worth Taka 13.98 crore, and transferred, converted, and handed over a total of Taka 85.69 crore through various bank accounts.
Abdullah Al Islam Jakob was arrested from the capital’s Gulshan area on October 1, 2024, and has been in jail since then.
