Dhaka: Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has announced a special metro rail schedule for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha holidays, with services to remain suspended only on Eid day.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the schedule released on Thursday outlines limited timings and fixed headways for metro rail services in the capital, aiming to ensure passenger convenience during the holiday period.
The government has declared a seven-day holiday for Eid-ul-Azha from May 25 to May 31, with Eid set to be celebrated on May 28, a Thursday. Under the special schedule, the first train from Uttara North Station will depart at 6:30 am, and the first train from Motijheel Station will leave at 7:15 am. The last train from Uttara North will depart at 9:30 pm, and the final train from Motijheel Station will leave at 10:10 pm.
Authorities have stated that trains will operate throughout the day within the fixed schedule, maintaining headways of 12 to 15 minutes, as noted in a DMTCL press release. Initially, around 140 trips are planned using seven train sets, with services to be adjusted based on passenger demand.
Passengers will be able to purchase single-journey tickets and recharge MRT and Rapid Pass cards from 6:40 am to 9:20 am. Rapid Pass cards will be available at all stations during these hours. On Fridays, ticket sales at Uttara North Station will start at 2:45 pm, while sales at Motijheel Station will commence at 3:05 pm. Authorities have also mentioned that all ticket counters and vending machines will be closed after 9:20 pm.
