Naogaon: Two farmers were killed when a thunderbolt struck them while harvesting paddy amid rain at Jathail in Raninagar upazila of Naogaon district on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Akkas Fakir, 60, and his relative Tarek Fakir, 24, both from Paroil village in Raninagar upazila.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Zakaria Mondal, Officer-in-Charge of Raninagar Police Station, confirmed that the two farmers died on the spot after being struck by lightning while working in the paddy field during rain. On receiving information, police recovered the bodies and handed them over to the families.
Meanwhile, Raninagar Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Nazrul Islam announced that Tk 20,000 will be provided to the families of the deceased through the local administration.
