Dhaka: BNP Secretary General and Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday emphasized that only laws or government initiatives are insufficient to prevent rape, child abuse, and killings, advocating for a robust national social movement. He shared his thoughts in a post on his personal Facebook profile in the morning.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Fakhrul stressed the vital role of families, schools, madrasahs, teachers, religious leaders, media, social organizations, and every citizen in addressing these pressing issues. He highlighted the importance of instilling values such as respect, humanity, responsibility, and the dignity of women in children, which he believes is crucial for ensuring their safety and securing the future of Bangladesh.
The BNP leader pointed out that incidents of rape, child abuse, and killings are not isolated, but rather alarming reflections of a long-standing moral decline, social irresponsibility, and a rapid deterioration of human values over the years. Fakhrul reaffirmed his commitment to continue comprehensive efforts against these heinous crimes, aiming to build a safe Bangladesh where children can grow up without fear.
He called on everyone to unite in what he described as a collective struggle for change, emphasizing the necessity of a strong social movement to address these critical issues.
