Dhaka: A mild heat wave is currently affecting 11 districts, including Dhaka, as reported by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday. This weather condition is expected to persist, impacting the daily lives of residents in these areas.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the BMD's regular bulletin highlighted that the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Dhaka, Tangail, Khulna, Jashore, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Chandpur, and Lakshmipur are experiencing the heat wave. In addition to the heat, forecasts predict light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning in various parts of the country. These weather patterns are likely to affect many areas in the Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Sylhet divisions, and sporadically in the Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions. Some regions, particularly in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Sylhet divisions, might experience moderately heavy to heavy rainfall.
The highest temperature in the country was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius in Ramgati of the Lakshmipur district on Wednesday. The BMD has also indicated that both day and night temperatures across the country might decrease slightly. Additionally, a trough of low pressure is present from West Bengal to the North Bay across the southwestern part of Bangladesh, influencing the current weather conditions.
