Fulchhari: Two boats laden with sacks of rice sank in the Brahmaputra River following a sudden storm this morning. The incident occurred while the boats were en route to Erendabari Fulchhari upazila from Balashighat of Kanchipara.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the boats were carrying 467 sacks of VGF rice, which had been dispatched from the godown on Wednesday for delivery to Erendabari union. The sudden gusty wind that swept across the river as the boats were crossing resulted in the unfortunate sinking.
Additional upazila controller of food, Matiar Rahman, confirmed that civil defense personnel promptly arrived at the scene upon receiving the information. However, by the time they reached, all the rice bags had already sunk into the deep waters. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
