Dhaka: Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam announced today that the government is actively working towards creating a modern, safe, and internationally standardized communication network with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He emphasized that JICA's ongoing assistance is crucial in realizing this objective.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rabiul's remarks came during a courtesy call by a JICA delegation at his office in the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka. State Minister for Railways and Road Transport and Highways Division Habibur Rashid, MP, also attended the meeting. The JICA delegation was led by Takahashi Junko, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh Office, as stated in a ministry press release.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the current development activities within the country's road, bridge, railways, and shipping sectors. The conversation also covered the construction of sustainable infrastructure, the use of modern technology, and prospects for future cooperation between Bangladesh and JICA.
Minister Rabiul reiterated the government's commitment to modernizing the transport and communication sectors to provide safe, efficient, and world-class connectivity. He expressed deep appreciation for JICA's long-standing partnership and support as a key development partner of Bangladesh.
The JICA delegation expressed a strong interest in continuing its collaboration on Bangladesh's infrastructure development efforts and assured enhanced cooperation in upcoming development projects.
