Dhaka: Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, has stated that security without accountability can never bring stability in the evolving global order. He emphasized the necessity for investment in creating new leadership, particularly in light of the rapid expansion of technology. ‘Such initiatives will demonstrate our sense of responsibility in building the nation’s future and, at the same time, strengthen people’s trust and confidence,’ he remarked.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Speaker made these comments during the closing session of a two-day international conference titled ‘National Security in South Asia in the Context of the New World Order’. This event was organized by the Centre for Future Studies of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). The conference focused on several key issues such as redefining national security in South Asia, transactional multipolarity and regional cooperation, energy security, migration and refugees in South Asia, combating misinformation and disinformation, and regional cooperation in a changing world, according to a press release.
During his address, the Speaker highlighted that national security is not solely dependent on internal strength, but also relies on a nation’s acquired knowledge, wisdom, and the stability of international boundaries. The conference also featured other notable speakers including Dr. Pramod Jaiswal from Nepal, Subashini Abeyasinghe from Sri Lanka, Dr. Salma Malik from Pakistan, and Dr. Greg Simons from Sweden. These experts exchanged views and presented research-based discussions on regional and global security challenges.
The Speaker extended his gratitude to the organizers, including the university’s Vice-Chancellor Major General Md Mahbub-Ul Alam, for their efforts in arranging the conference. The event was attended by deans of different faculties, senior officials, teachers, researchers, students, and invited guests.
