Bangladesh Aims for Global Recognition Through Football: BFF President

Raipura: Tabith Awal, President of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), has announced an ambitious plan for Bangladesh to establish a strong global identity through football. Speaking at a football and school bag distribution programme for orphaned children in Raipura upazila, Awal highlighted the federation’s strategic efforts to expand the sport throughout the country.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tabith Awal emphasized that football has been integrated as one of the four compulsory sports in the education curriculum from the fourth grade, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision. He noted, “Bangladesh is already known worldwide for its garment industry and resilience during disasters. In the future, the world will also know Bangladesh through football.”



The BFF president underscored the country’s passionate football fan base, especially its notable support for Argentina. He expressed that football could serve as a global ambassador for Bangladesh, enhancing its international profile. Awal conveyed optimism regarding the national team’s preparations, mentioning that an agreement with a new coach is likely to be finalized soon, with hopes that the coach will join before the upcoming training camp begins.



The remarks were made during the first phase of the Football Festival organized by the Orphan Love Foundation at Nayachar Sirajnagar Ummulkura Madrasa in Raipura. The event saw participation from various local leaders, including Member of Parliament for Narsingdi-5 (Raipura), Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bakul, who attended as the chief guest.



The programme successfully distributed footballs and school bags to over 500 orphan students of the madrasa, with support from City Bank, marking a significant step in promoting football and education among the youth.
