Security sans Accountability Can Never Ensure Global Stability: Speaker

Dhaka: Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad on Wednesday emphasized that security without accountability is insufficient for ensuring global stability in the shifting world order. He highlighted the importance of investing in leadership development amidst the rapid technological advancements.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the Speaker noted that such investments are crucial for demonstrating responsibility towards building the nation’s future and strengthening public trust and confidence. He made these remarks during the conclusion of a two-day international conference organized by the Centre for Future Studies of Bangladesh University of Professionals.

The conference, titled ‘National Security in South Asia in the Context of the New World Order’, aimed to redefine national security in South Asia. It addressed themes such as transactional multipolarity, regional cooperation, energy security, migration and refugees in South Asia, combating misinformation and disinformation, and regional cooperation in the evolving global landscape.

Hafiz Uddin stressed that security is not merely a function of internal strength but also relies on a nation’s acquired knowledge, wisdom, and the stability of international borders. The event gathered regional and international experts who shared insights and research-based analyses on the emerging security challenges at both regional and global levels.

Prominent keynote speakers at the event included Pramod Jaiswal from Nepal, Subashini Abeyasinghe from Sri Lanka, Salma Malik from Pakistan, and Greg Simons from Sweden. The Speaker expressed gratitude to the university authorities, particularly Vice Chancellor Major General Md Mahbub-Ul Alam, as well as the event organizers.

The conference was attended by deans of various faculties, senior officials, teachers, researchers, students, and invited guests, fostering a collaborative environment for dialogue and knowledge exchange.
