Dhaka: State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced significant changes in the primary education curriculum designed to equip the next generation with essential leadership skills, civic responsibility, morality, and social awareness, alongside traditional textbook-based learning. This initiative aims to cultivate world-class leadership qualities among students.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the national “Halde Pakhi Neel Kamal Award-2026” event organized by the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association. Hajjaj emphasized the government’s commitment, under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s leadership, to reform the education sector comprehensively to produce skilled, confident, and responsible citizens.
A key component of these reforms is the successful implementation of a mid-day meal program, which currently benefits students in over 65,000 government primary schools across the country. Hajjaj addressed the students, identifying them as the future leaders who will represent Bangladesh both domestically and internationally.
He highlighted that the new curriculum would not only prioritize academic learning but also emphasize practical life skills, civic sense, cleanliness, and social responsibility. The curriculum is being crafted to allow children to learn through storytelling, creativity, and enjoyable methods, minimizing excessive academic pressure.
At the event, 57 selected “Halde Pakhi” members were honored with the “Neel Kamal Award.” The ceremony was presided over by Kazi Zebunnesa Begum, National Commissioner of the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association.
