Inter-Batch Futsal Tournament Concludes at DU Social Welfare Institute

Dhaka: A three-day inter-batch futsal tournament at the Institute of Social Welfare and Research, University of Dhaka, concluded with the 17th batch emerging as champions after defeating the 16th batch 2-0 in a tiebreaker.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tournament was organized by the students of the institute’s 16th batch and received sponsorship from Md Tarikul Islam Tarik, a former captain of the Social Welfare football and cricket teams and Joint General Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal central committee. Seven teams from different batches of the institute participated in the competition.



The final match, held on Tuesday, showcased a competitive contest between the 16th and 17th batches. Both teams failed to score during regulation or extra time, leading the match to a tiebreaker where the 17th batch secured their victory.



Following the tournament, prizes were distributed among the champion and runner-up teams, as well as individual performers. Rakibuzzaman Ratul of the 17th batch was named player of the final, while his batchmate Mahmudul Hasan Tanvir was awarded player of the tournament. Jalal Ahmed received the best goalkeeper award, and Mehedi Hasan Toru of the 16th batch was recognized as the highest scorer.



Director of the institute Dr Mahbuba Sultana attended the prize-giving ceremony as the chief guest, while student adviser Dr Sheikh Touhidul Islam was present as a special guest.
