Kaluthara: Bangladesh’s FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid, FIDE Master Khandaker Aminul Islam, Women Candidate Master Walijah Ahmed, and Rayan Rashid Mugdho made successful starts by winning their respective opening-round matches in the open section of the Commonwealth Chess Championship in Kaluthara, Sri Lanka, as announced in a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in the first round matches, Sakline Mostafa Sajid overcame Sri Lanka’s Chandula, while Khandaker Aminul Islam triumphed over South Africa’s Jikizela Musa. Walijah Ahmed secured a victory against Chandrasena Siddhartha of Sri Lanka, and Rayan Rashid Mugdho defeated Mauritius player Burbach Enia Belle.
In the U-16 category, Jannatul Prity drew with Rendeniya Senithma Deomi. Meanwhile, in the U-12 group, Rayan Rashid Mugdho continued his winning streak by defeating Sri Lanka’s Perera Yasahan.
