DMP Steps Up Eid-ul-Azha Security, Vows Crackdown on Crime

Dhaka: Newly appointed Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed on Monday announced that special police operations targeting extortionists, muggers, and drug traders are underway ahead of Eid-ul-Azha 2026. He urged everyone to take responsibility in maintaining the safety and functionality of the city and the state.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed made these remarks during a coordination meeting focused on overall security and traffic management for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. The meeting took place at the conference room of the DMP headquarters.



The commissioner emphasized the shared responsibility of all citizens in maintaining the city’s safety and functionality. He also announced that launches would not be permitted to carry excess passengers during the Eid period and urged authorities to avoid road excavation works during this time.



He called upon all government agencies to work in coordination to ensure safe and hassle-free travel for people during Eid. The meeting was attended by representatives from various intelligence agencies, specialized police units, and organizations such as the Department of Shipping, Bangladesh Road Transport Owners’ Association, and others.



DMP Joint Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented the overall security plan at the start of the meeting through a PowerPoint presentation. Representatives from different organizations participated in an open discussion, sharing their opinions and insights.



Among those present were DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam, Additional Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md Masud Karim, Additional Commissioner (DB) Md Shafiqul Islam, Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Md Anisur Rahman, along with joint commissioners, deputy commissioners, and police officials of various ranks.
