Geneva: State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. MA Muhit emphasized Bangladesh’s focus on primary healthcare as a cornerstone for universal health coverage and effective cancer prevention at the Commonwealth Health Coordination Forum in Geneva on Sunday. He reiterated the government’s commitment to developing equitable and resilient cancer care systems.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the State Minister, accompanied by Bangladesh’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative in Geneva, Nahida Sobhan, presented the country’s ongoing initiatives. These include national cancer management guidelines, the expansion of cancer registries, an HPV vaccination campaign targeting adolescent girls, community-based screenings, early diagnosis efforts, and improvements in the oncology workforce and services in decentralized areas.
Dr. Muhit called for enhanced collaboration among Commonwealth nations in areas such as workforce training, digital health, research partnerships, and making cancer care more affordable. His participation in the forum was facilitated by Bangladesh’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva.
