Dhaka: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has expressed deep gratitude to the Turkish government and people for standing beside the Rohingyas who sought refuge in Bangladesh after being forcibly displaced from Myanmar. The minister conveyed his appreciation during a courtesy call from Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ramis Sen, at his office in the Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting also addressed Bangladesh’s challenges with natural disasters due to climate change and its geographical location. The minister expressed his desire for more effective cooperation from Turkey in the modernization of disaster management. He emphasized the importance of a joint partnership with Turkey, particularly in technical areas such as enhancing disaster early warning systems, constructing modern cyclone shelters, and innovating lightning protection technology.
Dulu highlighted the brotherly relations between the two nations and expressed optimism that the bilateral relationship would strengthen and consolidate in the future. In response, the Turkish Ambassador conveyed greetings to the newly elected government and the people of Bangladesh. He affirmed Turkey’s commitment to support Bangladesh in disaster management and various development sectors, pledging to explore new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
Senior officials of the ministry were present during the occasion.
