Satkhira: A 35-year-old housewife was slaughtered allegedly by her husband in Bhomra area of Sadar upazila in Satkhira on Saturday night. The victim, identified as Taslima Khatun, was found critically injured at her home in Laxmidari village around 11:30pm. She was rushed to Satkhira Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the victim’s 12-year-old daughter Sadia Sultana reported that her father, Saddam Hossain, was allegedly addicted to drugs and frequently quarreled with her mother. On the night of the incident, Sadia, her grandmother, and younger brother were asleep in the next room. They were awakened by Taslima’s groaning. Upon rushing to her room, they discovered her lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit.

Victim’s father, Nuruzzaman, alleged that his daughter had been subjected to physical abuse by her husband since their marriage. He claimed that Saddam often tortured Taslima when he failed to arrange money for drugs. Nuruzzaman expressed his desire for exemplary punishment for Saddam, stating that he never imagined his son-in-law would kill his daughter.

Following the incident, the accused went into hiding. Officer-in-Charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, Masudur Rahman, confirmed that they recovered the body and are actively trying to arrest the suspect.
