Sufficient Allocation for Science in Next Budget: Minu

Rajshahi: Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has announced that the upcoming budget will include a sufficient allocation for science studies and development. He made this statement while serving as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the 47th National Science and Technology Week held today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event took place at the Rajshahi College auditorium and was organized by the Rajshahi Divisional Administration under the supervision of the National Museum of Science and Technology. The minister also inaugurated the divisional level Science Fair, the 10th National Science Olympiad, and the 10th Science Quiz Competition-2026. A total of 48 teams from various colleges in the division participated in the Science Olympiad.



The inauguration was marked by the release of balloons and festoons, and the minister visited various stalls at the fair. Dr. A. N. M. Bazlur Rashid, the Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner, presided over the inaugural function, while local parliament member Nazrul Islam and Zila Parishad Administrator Ershad Ali Isha attended as special guests.



During his speech, the land minister referred to the canal excavation program initiated by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, highlighting its importance in resolving water scarcity caused by the adverse effects of Farakka. He noted that the initiative replicated IRRI rice irrigation in Bangladesh from Indonesia, and Bangladeshi scientists have since scientifically improved this rice, leading to a significant increase in production.
