Mymensingh: State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced that a new curriculum for primary-level students will be introduced in 2028, following the completion of planning, training, and piloting phases. The curriculum design is expected to be completed within the next year, with teacher training scheduled to conclude by 2027 and 2028.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister made these remarks while addressing a meeting organized by the National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) in Mymensingh. The meeting focused on sharing the baseline report of a pilot programme aimed at improving language skills at the primary level. Hajjaj emphasized that the standard of primary education would be gauged by the actual learning acquired by students, and officials would be assessed based on classroom education effectiveness.
Hajjaj highlighted the necessity for enhanced washroom and classroom facilities to create a better learning environment in schools. He stated that the new curriculum will emphasize language, mathematics, city education, sports, and culture, and will extend beyond the traditional classroom setting.
The state minister also discussed the importance of aligning textbook preparation with target learners and their context. He stressed the need to first identify the intended audience and context for the textbooks, followed by a focus on desired learning outcomes. The primary measure of success will be the effectiveness of teaching and student learning.
Director General of NAPE Farid Ahmad and other officials were present at the event.
