Pabna: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku has announced that the government is actively encouraging the expansion of Bangladesh’s capacity to export meat to international markets. He made these remarks during an interaction with journalists following his visit to the Bengal Meat Processing Factory in Pabna, as per a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku emphasized the government’s focus on generating foreign currency through the export of domestically produced goods and farm-based products, in addition to fulfilling local demand. He highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering marginalized communities and farmers by making them economically self-reliant.
During his address, Tuku remarked on the abundant resources available in the country and the government’s plans to leverage these to bolster the national economy. He stressed the importance of ensuring that marginalized communities and farmers benefit from these opportunities, with an increase in employment prospects for them being a key consideration.
In response to a journalist’s query, Tuku noted that the Bengal Meat authorities are employing highly scientific and safe methods in meat production and processing, with exports already being carried out on a limited scale. He assured that the government would assess the support needed to eliminate any obstacles to exports.
During his visit, the state minister reviewed the factory’s production operations, hygienic meat processing system, quality control measures, preservation methods, and overall activities. Accompanying him were Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Syed Bin Abdullah, Pabna-2 constituency lawmaker AKM Selim Reza Habib, Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Md Delwar Hossain, and Department of Livestock Services Director General Md.
