Rajshahi: A day-long workshop titled ‘Livestock-Poultry Disease Prevention and Management Training’ was held in Paba Upazila in the district to increase farmers’ skills and raise awareness about modern livestock management. Organized to mark ‘World Veterinary Day 2026,’ the workshop was attended by grassroots livestock farmers, both men and women, along with local farm owners.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event took place today in the Upazila Agriculture Office conference room. It was implemented by the Rotary Club of Rajshahi Central with support from the Bangladesh Livestock Society (BLS) and Chemist Laboratories Limited. The workshop was arranged by the Regional Development Organization and Power Agrovet Bangladesh.
Paba Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ibnul Abedin inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest. He emphasized the importance of acquiring skills in livestock disease prevention and safe animal food production. By following veterinarians’ advice, farmers can increase production and improve their living standards through income-generating activities. He also highlighted the role of such training in public health and sustainable livestock development.
The event was presided over by Rotarian Dr. Hemayetul Islam, General Secretary of BLS, who stressed the interconnectedness of animal and human health. He noted that healthy livestock ensures safe food and that there is no alternative to this kind of training for enhancing the skills of marginal farmers and creating new entrepreneurs. He emphasized strengthening coordinated efforts to implement the ‘One Health’ concept.
Also present at the workshop were Dr. Rakib Hasan of Chemist Laboratories Limited, Regional Sales Manager Mashiur Rahman, Md. Enamul Haque, General Secretary of the Poultry Association Rajshahi, and Upazila Livestock Officer Abdus Salam. Chairman of Powerful Agrovet Bangladesh Mosammat Selina Begum, Director of Slum Development and Employment Hasinur Rahman, journalists Mahbubur Rahman Sarker and Zahid Hasan Palash also attended.
The program was conducted by Yusuf Ali Chowdhury, Director of the Regional Development Organization. Participating farmers received hands-on training on livestock health checkups, vaccination, disease prevention strategies, and modern management practices. Attendees expressed satisfaction with the timely training and hoped for more such programs in the future.
