Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh Presents Credentials to IMO Secretary-General

London: Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom (UK) Dr M. Nazrul Islam on Friday presented his credentials to Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Arsenio Dominguez. He was appointed as the acting Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the IMO during a ceremony held at the IMO Headquarters in London.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the presentation of credentials was followed by a courtesy meeting between Dr. Islam and Secretary-General Dominguez. The discussions during the meeting focused on areas of mutual interest such as the enhancement of maritime safety, environmental protection, and sustainable maritime development.



Furthermore, the meeting served as a platform for exchanging views on the need for enhanced technical and financial support from the IMO to bolster Bangladesh’s maritime infrastructure and governance. This interaction underscores the commitment of both parties to strengthen collaboration in maritime affairs, as reported by the Bangladesh High Commission in London. Officials from the High Commission were also present to support Dr. Islam during the meeting.
