Dhaka: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast a slight rise in both day and night temperatures across the country over the next 24 hours, starting at 9:00am on Friday. The BMD bulletin issued on Friday morning stated, "Day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country."
According to United News of Bangladesh, the country's highest temperature was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius in Khulna on Thursday. The BMD also predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning flashes at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. Similar weather conditions are expected at a few places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions, and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions.
The BMD bulletin added that moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at locations within Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. The highest rainfall recorded in the 24 hours till 6:00am on Friday was 70 millimeters in Feni.
Meanwhile, a well-marked low persists over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central bay, with a trough of low lying over West Bengal and adjoining areas.
