Kushtia: Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia has appointed Prof Dr AKM Motinur Rahman of the Department of Public Administration as its new Vice-Chancellor.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education issued a notification regarding the appointment, signed by Assistant Secretary Sultan Ahmed. The appointment was made under Section 10(1) of the Islamic University Act, 1980, with the approval of the President, who also serves as the Chancellor of the university.
As per the terms outlined in the notification, Prof Motinur Rahman will serve a four-year term as Vice-Chancellor, beginning from the date of his joining. During his tenure, he will receive a salary, allowances, and other benefits equivalent to those of his current position. Additionally, he will be required to reside on campus full-time in his capacity as the chief executive officer of the university.
The notification further stated that the President and Chancellor hold the authority to cancel the appointment if deemed necessary. Prof Motinur Rahman has previously held various academic and administrative positions at the university and is recognized by students and colleagues as an experienced academic.
