Rangamati: Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan today asserted that the current government is committed to ensuring absolute freedom of the press. He made this statement while inaugurating the office of 'Asia Post' as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Dewan highlighted the contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, who he credited as the pioneer of press freedom in the country and for establishing the media as the fourth pillar of the state. The minister emphasized that the current government is following the path laid by Shaheed Zia by removing all press restrictions and building a base for a multidimensional democracy.
During the ceremony, Minister Dewan remarked that the media serves as the mirror of the nation, urging journalists to maintain neutrality by disseminating factual information. He called on media personnel to report objective news, particularly concerning the challenges and opportunities within the CHT.
The event was presided over by Md. Ziaul Haque, the Rangamati correspondent for Asia Post.
