Tangail: Fisheries and Livestock State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku today stated that authorities are vigilant to prevent extortion at cattle markets and livestock transport ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. He made these remarks while addressing journalists after inaugurating the final match of Notun Kuri Sports at Shaheed Maruf Stadium in Tangail this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku emphasized that necessary measures have already been implemented to ensure smooth and corruption-free management of cattle markets. He assured that the country possesses an adequate livestock supply to meet the Eid demand, negating the need for importing sacrificial animals from abroad this year.
The state minister also announced that veterinary doctors will be stationed at all cattle markets to provide proper animal health services and oversee market management. He highlighted that strict monitoring has been intensified to prevent the illegal entry of cattle, with law enforcement agencies and border authorities remaining on high alert.
The event was attended by local administration officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Sonjoy Kumar Mohanta and Tangail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shaheen Mia.
