Rangamati: The Rangamati Science and Technology University (RMSTU) has initiated the ‘Deans Award’ to honor students who have demonstrated exceptional academic success and merit. This marks the first time the university has introduced such an accolade, highlighting its commitment to recognizing student achievements.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the award was presented during the ‘Deans Award Giving Ceremony’ held at the RMSTU’s Academic Building-1 conference room. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Md Atiar Rahman, who attended as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Mohammad Junaid Kabir, the acting Registrar and Associate Professor of the Department of Management.
The ceremony also saw participation from prominent university figures, including Asifa Nargis, Acting Chairman of the Department of Management, Dr Nikhil Chakma, Chairman of the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science, Dr Touhidul Islam, Dean and Associate Professor of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology, and Dr Muhammad Rahim Uddin, Dean and Associate Professor of the Faculty of Business Administration.
During his speech, Vice-Chancellor Dr Md Atiar Rahman emphasized that the Dean’s Award goes beyond just recognizing a good CGPA. It also acknowledges students’ dedication, consistent study habits, sincerity, honesty, full class attendance, and adherence to university discipline and etiquette. He advocated for the annual continuation of the Dean’s Award as a testament to student merit, hard work, and positive contributions.
This year, the award was bestowed upon Itika Aich from the Department of Management and Zafrin Akhter Shila from the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science, both from the 2019-2020 academic year. The recipients expressed that the recognition serves as a motivating factor for their future endeavors.
The awarded students received crests, certificates, and checks as outlined in the Dean’s Award Policy-2025 of RMSTU. To qualify for the award, students must achieve a CGPA of 3.75 or above in their undergraduate (honors) examinations. However, students who undergo re-admission, participate in supplementary or quality improvement examinations, or engage in unlawful activities are deemed ineligible.
The event was attended by deans of various faculties, departmental chairpersons, teachers, university officials, and students, marking a significant milestone in recognizing academic accomplishments at RMSTU.
