Dhaka: The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved the procurement of three cargoes of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from the international spot market to help meet the country’s rising gas demand. This decision was made during the 20th meeting of the CCGP this year, held at the Bangladesh Secretariat, with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presiding over the session.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the total expenditure for this procurement has been estimated at Tk 2,186.35 crore. The procurement process adhered to international spot market quotations, in line with Rule-105(3)(Ka) of the Public Procurement Rules, 2025.
Under the approved arrangement, three Singapore-based suppliers-Vitol Asia Pte Ltd, BP Singapore Pte Ltd, and Gunvor Singapore Pte Ltd-have been selected to supply the LNG cargo. The schedule outlines that the 20th cargo is expected to arrive between June 8-9, the 21st cargo between June 9-10, and the 22nd cargo between June 14-15.
