Khulna: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has formed a fresh three-member committee to investigate an alleged fuel theft incident involving one of its vehicles.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, an office order signed by KCC Acting Secretary Rahima Khatun Bushra on May 4, tasked the committee with submitting its report within five working days.
The committee is led by KCC Executive Engineer (Mechanical) Md. Anisuzzaman, with Conservancy Officer Mohammad Anisur Rahman and Sub-Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) Mohammad Selimul Azad as its other members. The office order highlighted an incident on March 19, two days before Eid, when Khalishpur B-Region Supervisor Nuruzzaman Sumon reported to KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju over the phone that fuel was allegedly being siphoned from the fuel tank of a backhoe loader in the Khalishpur New Market area.
Following the administrator’s guidance, officials promptly arrived at the location and seized a container filled with several litres of fuel. The driver of the vehicle, Enayet Hossain Babul, was immediately prohibited from operating the loader. Sources indicated that this is the third committee formed regarding the incident. Previously, a committee was reconstituted after concerns were raised about one of its members.
