Dhaka: A World Bank (WB) delegation called on Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam at the Road Transport and Highways Division conference room at the Secretariat here today. The meeting aimed to discuss ongoing and future development projects in Bangladesh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the delegation was led by WB Division Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, Jean Pesme. The conference also saw the presence of Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr. Mohammed Ziaul Haque, Shipping Secretary Zakaria, and other senior officials from the relevant ministries.
During the meeting, Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam highlighted the World Bank’s crucial role as one of Bangladesh’s key development partners. He expressed optimism that the ongoing and future development activities would see further acceleration through mutual cooperation. As the Minister for Railways and Shipping, he also underscored the importance of continuing joint initiatives, particularly in infrastructure development.
Jean Pesme, representing the World Bank, showed interest in expanding partnerships in the sectors of roads, bridges, shipping, and railways. The discussions also covered the progress of ongoing projects, with assurances of broader cooperation in the future.
