Khulna: A court here today sentenced two persons to life-term imprisonment in a murder case filed over the killing of Nesar Ali Morol of Charmaloi village under Paikgachha upazila in the district. The convicts were also fined Tk 20,000 each and, in default, will have to suffer an additional six months in jail. Judge Md Manjurul Imam of the Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal (Senior District and Sessions Judge Court), Khulna, pronounced the verdict. The convicts are Shahidul, son of Rezoan Biswas of Sahajatpur village under Tala upazila in Satkhira district, and Sadhan Hawlader, son of Monosa Biswas of Paikgachha upazila in Khulna. The accused were absent during the pronouncement of the verdict.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nesar Ali Morol was shot dead on January 1, 2004, over previous enmity. Victim’s brother Anwar Hossain filed a murder case with Paikgachha Police Station on the same day. Investigation Officer and Paikgachha Police Station Sub-Inspector Nasir Uddin submitted the charge sheet against Shahidul and Bhola on April 30, 2005.
