Dhaka: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today emphasized the incumbent government’s commitment to maintaining stable relations with neighboring countries, especially in light of the long-standing Rohingya crisis. He shared his views while speaking with reporters following discussions with representatives from various countries and donor agencies.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Mirza Fakhrul also highlighted the government’s efforts to address challenges in the energy sector. He announced that the tender process for energy-efficient gas extraction would commence within the next three months. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to bolster the country’s energy sector.
The minister also reiterated the government’s focus on resolving the Rohingya issue, noting that the political climate has been conducive for progress. Earlier, during a dialogue, he pointed out that Bangladesh has emerged as a promising destination for global investment. “Through infrastructure development, progress in the energy sector, and policy reforms, we have created an environment of trust for investors,” he stated.
The dialogue, named ‘C.O.M.P.A.S.S. Dialogue, Chapter 1: The Western Calibration,’ was organized by the Institute of Strategy and Tactics Research (ISTR) and held at Hotel Sheraton in Dhaka. It featured speeches from Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin and State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit, among others.
Minister Mirza Fakhrul underscored that under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Bangladesh is continually advancing on its developmental path. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring peace, stability, security, and sovereignty. Efforts are ongoing to create a sustainable, investment-friendly environment, with all necessary facilities being provided for both local and foreign investors.
The presence of foreign representatives at the event was seen as a testament to the international community’s interest and trust in Bangladesh. Attendees discussed addressing global economic challenges, increasing regional cooperation, and identifying new investment opportunities. The dialogue was attended by local and foreign experts, policymakers, senior officials, diplomats, researchers, and other dignitaries.
