Dhaka: The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have outlined a series of programs to celebrate the 165th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore. To mark the occasion, a discussion and essay presentation session is scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday at the Student-Teacher Centre (TSC) auditorium. The event will be presided over by DU Vice Chancellor Prof A B M Obaidul Islam.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this year’s birth anniversary is being observed with the theme ‘Tagore: The Poet of Peace and Humanity.’ The event will see participation from notable university figures, including Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Abdus Salam, and Treasurer Prof. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
Prof. Serajul Islam (Seraj Salekeen), Chairman of the university’s Bengali Department, will deliver the memorial lecture. Following the formal discussion, a cultural program will be organized jointly by the DU Music Department and the Dance Department, featuring performances of Tagore’s songs and dance recitals.
